the day of a substitute teacher...
9am: call to school and I am not yet dressed...
11am: arrive at school two trains and a run around London later (uh-oh, school began at 9am)
11.02am: shown to class and told to teach the "chunking method" of division for an hour and a half
gulp
11.10am: kids are making crazy noise and I finally understand what "chunking" is.
and so it goes on...til the peaceful time of hometime.
I don't quite know how people survive as a sub teacher. Kids of England lost respect somewhere along the way, but it's mothers my age who aren't helping them find it.
OK, I'm done.
