I went camping to Tanesashi on Saturday with some people from Misawa. It was super fun, and a lovely sunny day in Hachinohe. I had my big old tent all to myself.

Jimmy took me on a ride around in a chariot. I fell off soon after he walked into a bench. We made smores and Caleb and Jimmy played some sweet music. How I long to be able to play the guitar! Practice practice!

On Tuesday we had the 36th Sannohe Gun Speech Contest. Five of my students were in the contest. I was a judge. This was a difficult job because I feel so responsible for all the kids who have worked so hard the past month to memorise and pronounce words perfectly.

After a loooong day listening to various renditions of Hello Can Anyone Hear Me? and speeches about basketball, we judges went to go and see who were the winners.

And there next to the number 1 was Tsugumi from Nosawa. My student! The student who had written her speech about the day we went to the Tanabata festival! I was so proud! Definitely one of the best days I have ever known. I love my job!
