here comes my baby
the date--May 13th 2012, Mothers Day-- nearly 3 weeks before she was due, Mai Jubilee Monte was born.
It was a somewhat lengthy process, but my mum was there throughout to hold my hand and rub my back. The pain wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Maybe I was lucky, but it looks way worse in movies.
I had to have a c-section, something I hadn't thought about. The recovery was rough. Mai came out and I got to see her little chubby face for a brief second before she was whisked away to the NICU. Only 6 lb 1oz. They do say the best things come in small packages.
Since Mai was born, I have realised that the life I knew doesn't even matter anymore. The smiles I receive now are what fuzzy feelings are made of. When I hold her in my arms I know that we can help each other during this time while Sam is away on deployment. She's so helpless and innocent, and I love that. And her.
